At Floor Factors, we offer primarily prefinished wood flooring, which eliminates the need for onsite finishing. Most of our hardwood and bamboo planks come in traditional nail/glue installation. We carry a large variety of Oak, Maple, Hickory, Birch Hardwoods as well as more exotic species such as Brazilian Cherry, Mahogany, Hevea and so much more!
The modern wood flooring options from Floor Factors are available in solid or engineered planks and typically come in prefinished naturally-sourced materials, eliminating the need for onsite finishing.
Engineered Hardwood Floors can be sanded and refinished. Typically a 2mm wear layer product can be sanded and refinished 1-2 times. A 3mm wear layer product can be sanded and refinished 2-3 times. A 4mm to 6mm product can be sanded and refinished 3-6 times.

BAMBOO
Strand woven bamboo is a new flooring material that was developed in 2007. It is created by processing raw bamboo beams into long, cross-linked fibers, then drying and pressing the fibers into a floor beam. Strand woven bamboo is extremely durable compared to most hardwood flooring materials and is an affordable natural flooring alternative to hardwood. Our eco-friendly bamboo flooring choices include traditional, engineered, and strand-woven options.
Types of Bamboo Flooring
There are a variety of different types of bamboo flooring available, each with its own benefits and characteristics.
- Traditional bamboo flooring consists of solid bamboo fibers available in both engineered and solid construction.
- Engineered bamboo flooring consists of a base layer of plywood running perpendicular to a top layer of bamboo. This construction method adds dimensional stability allowing the product to be installed over many types of subfloors.
- Strand woven bamboo is similar to traditional bamboo, but bonded by resin, making it much more dense than traditional bamboo.
Benefits of Bamboo Flooring
- Affordable
Bamboo flooring is less expensive than hardwood and is a perfect choice for those who want to install a natural flooring material at a reasonable price. However, bamboo floors have a lifespan of 10-25 years, while hardwood floors can last 75 or more years.
- Easy to Maintain
Bamboo flooring is easy to maintain. Regular sweeping, vacuuming, and occasional polishing with a non-wax cleaner will keep it clean and free of debris. Any sand or dirt particles will damage the surface over time, so it is important to dust and sweep often. Learn more about prefinished hardwood and bamboo care and maintenance.
- Water-Resistant
Bamboo flooring is more resistant to water and liquid stains than hardwood. However, if installed in a humid area, the planks can “plump up.” If installed in an overly dry area, the planks can shrink, just like any engineered/solid hardwood.
- Ecologically-Friendly
The natural surface of bamboo has several properties similar to hardwood flooring, but it is actually created from a type of grass, making it an ecologically-friendly choice. Bamboo is a renewable plant resource that can grow to maturity in as little as three years, which is much faster than hardwood trees.
- Durable
Some types of bamboo can be very strong and durable. Un-carbonized bamboo that is properly harvested can be as hard and durable as oak flooring. Additionally, strand-woven bamboo flooring can be even more durable, depending on how it was manufactured. It can achieve a hardness rating up to three times as hard as oak.
- Versatile Appearance
Bamboo flooring is trending for its natural elegance and versatile appearance. The finished look of bamboo is similar to that of hardwood while offering its own distinct, almost exotic, aesthetic.
- Climatic Suitability
Because it grows in the tropics, bamboo flooring has a higher climatic suitability compared to hardwood and other flooring materials. This makes bamboo a great choice for laundry rooms and bathrooms where hardwood does not work as well in the humidity.
- Natural Flooring Material
As people are becoming more environmentally conscious, natural flooring options are gaining in popularity. Bamboo is a great natural flooring alternative to hardwood.
